(NOTE: Nakuha ko lang to sa Anime Artists Community. Sorry kung nakakanose bleed. haha! sana makatulong kahit papano :3 ) Help/Tutorials by: Romulo Benedetti I made this tutorial basically focusing on 2 type of persons: 1. Those that still didnt understand the importance of proportion... 2. Those that didnt know how to generalize proportion, they see the basic examples of triangles and other basic forms but it isnt helping in complex and completely different situations. Well I will show how you can learn with objects, persons and so on, their construction formulas... Its soo simple that I cant in fact call it really a tutorial. It will not help you understand completely how complex objects like humans behave (movement and body transformations with respect to it, neither understand profoundly object volume to construct light and texture), or perfectly how perspective acts in those objects, basically because it is a principle concept but it help a lot and until youre note familiar with the object you will need this recipe. You will need colored pencil or colored graphite and wax paper... 1. Take a image of an object you want to understand its proportion, I will use an old drawing mine. 2. map the basic lines of it with one pencil color, ignoring complexity, only lines... 3. then finally try to encapsulate the elements in measurable compartments like rectangles, well what you can encapsulate with good precision in a face? Eyes, brows and mouth, they have very clear limits. 4. here things can start to become more complex, you need to locate it and there exist some strategies: Connect the encapsulation with the limits of object, it will show some interesting proportions, as you can see, an nose fits precisely between eyes gap... Mouth and neck and face positions can be guided by neck and in the end we see symmetric connections everywhere. 5. You still isnt very familiar with this so the next pass is to create a fictional fundamental unity, I named mine ϥ, this unit need to be able to measure everything with simplicity (generate easy values, nothing more confuse than xϥ or x,5ϥ nothing of x,42324ϥ or 44ϥ) what lead to another fact, have good sense, dont use eye to measure all body, or youre studying the body or the face, or the hand, etc... And more important, use felling! We are talking about art, not engineering, you dont need big precisions here. Now try to use what you learned in your drawings, and dont feel bad of construct a base that you will erase later, until the information become a fixed knowledge and familiarity with the form...
