NOVEMBER DEVOTIONAL November 19 Romans 5 - 8 Topic: Peace, Be Still Text: Mark 4:35-41 Today’s text is the story of Jesus Christ on the sea with his disciples. The storm came and the disciples woke up Jesus Christ, accusing Him of not caring whether they perished or not. Jesus spoke one word and the storm calmed. Before the storm came the One who would make the storm still was already on the boat. Whatever the storm in your life, the One who will calm it would not wait for your prayer before coming to your rescue. He is already waiting to say to the storm: “Peace be still.” God has a ready solution to your problems. For example, when Jonah was thrown into the sea, before he hit the bottom of the sea, God had prepared a fish to swallow him up. That fish was not created on that day - it had been swimming and waiting in that water for the purpose which God assigned it: to rescue Jonah at the critical moment. The solution from God is always near at hand. In John 6:5-13, we read the story of the multitudes that came to hear the Lord speak. They grew hungry. When Jesus said they should be fed, the disciples wondered how to get the food to feed such a large crowd. But while they were wondering, there was a boy in the congregation with five loaves of bread and two fishes. They did not have to go looking for him. The boy emerged and the thousands were fed miraculously. Your miracle is already near you. Let us also consider another story in Exodus 15:22-25. The children of Israel were on their way to the Promised Land and they became thirsty. They got to a pool of water but discovered it was bitter. They turned against Moses. Moses cried to God and God showed him a tree from which he should cut a branch and throw into the bitter river. Moses did this and the water became sweet. The solution to your problem is already by your side. God does not need to undertake a long search for the solution to your problem. The solution is already a finished product. Just discover and receive it. Memory Verse: III John 1:2 - “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
