NOW THAT NWOYE IS FINALLY HERE! Ive been watching the candidates lined out for race to occupy Anambra State House once Gov Peter Obi handed over keys. Theres Chief Willie Obiano of APGA, theres Dr Chris Ngige of APC, and theres Ifeanyi Ubah of LP. For PDP, there was Andy Ubah..there was Tony Nwoye...there was Nick Ukachukwu...and finally, theres Tony Nwoye...it could even end up therell be Ukachukwu again. But lets go ahead now and anchor on Nwoye. These days, Anambrarians seem to have embraced politics so much that many people are now card-carrying members of one party or the other. I personally find this disturbing. Why? People are being denied their chances to choose. For whatever very few people at the caucus head decide becomes the partys choice and every other party robot queues behind that person, whether one-eyed, ex-convict, ritualist, junkie, etc. However, there are still few neutrals, who are registered and who would follow their conscience to the ballot box in his/her convinced choice for the good of Anambra. Stand up then, my good people of Anambra and make the wise choice. Amongst Obiano, Ngige, Ubah and Nwoye, who do you believe is most qualified to take the State House keys from Gov Obi? NGIGE? A qualified medical doctor, even if he didnt practice, has all the academic qualifications. He is a serving senator. He speaks well. He is politically smart. He has been governor before, even if on a stolen mandate. Did he deliver? Debatable! But on the other side of the coin...has this white-bearded man from Alor the right antecedents to be trusted with those keys? 1. Chose APC of all parties as a springboard. 2. Openly supported the deportation of Ndi Igbo from the Headquarters of his party. 3. Went to swear before a deity in order to be rigged into office the first time. 4. Flagged off his campaign with fragrant disrespect to Igbo customs and traditions in mind. 5. Clearly carries himself about as the wisest Anambrarian ever born. There are many others ... but lets stop here for want of space. UBAH? A successful businessman. Smart enough to break through the cabal that is Nigerias Oil business. A goal-getter. Always willing to spend money, even if borrowed. A philanthropist. Seemingly willing to alleviate poverty if given the chance. On the other side...1. Ubahs debt is massive. 2. His Capital Oil business is no longer in his hands...for whatever reason, that attracts competency questions. 3. What academic qualification has he got to competently handle the affairs of Anambra state in these modern times? NWOYE? Hails from Anambra North. Almost became a medical doctor. Was President of NANS. He is from PDP. Was the State Chairman of the party. Maneuvered his way ahead of both Andy and Chris Uba. Seemingly has the followership of youths in the Omambala axis. On the flip side...1. Allegedly heavily involved with cultism in school. 2. Allegedly Chris Ubas hatchet man during the rigging days. 3. Lacks experience and clout to govern the Anambra of today. OBIANO? Hails from Anambra North. Academically sound. Professionally tested and trusted. Has the blessing of the present governor. Will maintain continuity. On the flip side...1. Is not a politician 2. Has not been involved or been in governance. Personally, I dont have anything against any of the candidates. What drives me is the continued good of Anambra. Gov Obi has worked so assiduously to position Anambra on a landscape that has positive written from all corners. We need continuity. Equity! Let nobody fool himself...Anambra North should provide Obis successor. So, if youre neutral, forget Ubah and Ngige...get your searchlight on the two Anambra North candidates. Then ask yourself between a seasoned banker, the only black man who has been appointed the internal auditor worldwide while at TEXACO, a man who was hugely involved in capitalizing Fidelity Bank to survival while Soludos 25 billion Naira asset base threatened. A man who has held a very sensitive position as the Deputy MD of a bank for nine years and never found wanting and... Another, who, besides being the State Chairman of a party, hasnt really held any other public position that demanded scrutiny. And it must be noted, that under his chairmanship, his party went through the worst crisis in the state! We are at a very delicate point in Anambra history...one wrong turn and we go back to square one. Lets not live to regret what would have been. Gov Obi has done marvelously for Anambra. CONTINUITY should send us to the next level. Vote wisely!
