#NSW #Corp Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Lakemba two weeks ago. About 8.00pm (Thursday 25 July 2013), three males entered a store on Benaroon Road, armed with two axes and a knife. The trio threatened a male employee and his mother and forced them to open the cash register, before fleeing down Benaroon Road towards Punchbowl Road with an amount of cash, cigarettes and other property. No one was injured during the incident. A crime scene was established and examined by the Forensic Armed Robbery Unit. Officers attached to Campsie Local Area Command, with the assistance of specialist officers from the Dog Squad also conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area, but the group were not located. Detectives have now released CCTV images of two males, who police believe may be able to assist with their inquiries. The first male depicted in the images, is described as being about 165-170cm tall, with a tanned complexion, short dark hair and with a medium build. He is shown wearing a blue jumper, dark-coloured shorts and blue-coloured sneakers. The second male is described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 170cm tall, with a medium build and short light brown hair. He is shown wearing a dark-coloured jumper with a maroon shirt underneath, dark pants with white stripes down the sides, a beige-coloured cap and white sneakers. Police are continuing to pursue a number of lines of inquiry and urge anyone with information that could assist investigators to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
