#NSW #Severwarning #Corp Update 4:18 pm EDT: Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds and heavy rain for people in the Metropolitan, Mid North Coast and Hunter forecast districts Issued at 4:18 pm EDT on Monday 18 November 2013. HEAVY RAIN AND GALE FORCE WINDS FOR PARTS OF THE NSW COAST Weather Situation A low pressure system near the Mid North Coast and Hunter, expected to weaken overnight. Damaging wind gusts of 90 km/h, possibly reaching locally destructive speeds of 125 km/h at times, are forecast for the Metropolitan forecast district and parts of the Mid North Coast and Hunter forecast districts. Thunderstorms and heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding are forecast for parts of the Mid North Coast and Hunter forecast districts. Significant wind damage to buildings and trees has been reported from the Hornsby area. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. Keep clear of fallen power lines. Dont drive, ride or walk through flood water. Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500. The next warning will be issued by 11:00 pm EDT Monday. This warning is also available through TV and Radio broadcasts; the Bureaus website at bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 218. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate this warning being broadcast regularly.
