**NSW** UPDATE - 3:44 pm Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds for people in the Snowy Mountains forecast district Issued at 3:44 pm EST on Sunday 28 September 2014. Weather Situation A cold front from the Southern Ocean will reach southwest New South Wales tonight, then weaken as it progress towards the northeast on Monday. Vigorous northwesterly winds are developing ahead of this system. DAMAGING WINDS averaging 70 to 80 km/h, with peak gusts to 110 km/h are forecast for the Alpine Peaks in the Snowy Mountains forecast district tonight and early Monday. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. Keep clear of fallen power lines. For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500. The next warning will be issued by 11:00 pm EST Sunday.
