NTI Holds Workshop On Expansion Of Its Programmes The director-general and chief executive of the National Teachers’ Institute(NTI), Kaduna, Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu, has said that the strategic importance of the institute as the sole provider of in-service training to serving teachers, made the federal government in 2006 to mandate the institute to run annual capacity-building workshops for teachers nationwide under the aegis of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) project. Dr. Aminu revealed this during the opening ceremony of the workshop on “Strengthening and Expansion of the Institute’s programmes” held at the institute’s headquarters in Kaduna, last Friday. The workshop which was organised by the institute had academics from various universities and other tertiary institutions brainstorm on selected areas, such as English, Mathematics, Physical and Education and Integrated Science, among others. Dr. Aminu said the aimed is to map out new strategies for the strengthening and enhancement of the institute’s programmes. He hailed the introduction of the Nigeria Certificate in Education programme by distance learning system in 1990
