Nak main politik lagi? Kepada parti pemerintah (BN) dan barisan - TopicsExpress

Nak main politik lagi? Kepada parti pemerintah (BN) dan barisan pembangkang (PKR, DAP dan PAS), buangkan yang keruh dan ambil yang jernih. Bersatu kita teguh, bercerai kita roboh. Jangan kerana hendak memenangi pertempuran, kita kalah dalam peperangan. Dan jangan jadi seperti Pak Kaduk, menang bersorak, tergadai satu kampung. Dipetik dari NST. World’s at war, so stop party politics 4 SEPTEMBER 2014 @ 8:08 AM IF anyone thinks that the world is not at war, he or she is truly suffering from the “ostrich syndrome”. Ongoing warring from East to West and North to South is as what Pope Francis (returning from his recent trip to South Korea) said: “We are now in World War 3... spread out in small pockets everywhere.” Russian President Vladimir Putin has just said it, too. The United States is not sitting and sky-gazing either. And, the European Union is smouldering already. But, our local politicians are too busy fighting racial and religious battles here, instead of galvanising both sides of the political divide to converge and prepare for hard times ahead. The heat is on. It is a power-grabbing and political survival battle in Malaysia. Party politics is far more supreme and critical than nation-caring. And, the pawns are the humble, working rakyat. Ask any foreign worker in the country peddling belts or manning mobile stalls along Bukit Bintang or Petaling Street, “How is business now?”, and be ready to get a solemn look before he or she retorts: “Susah abang… no good, no good!” Even local businessmen are complaining of business slowing down, while wage earners’ belt-tightening efforts are not yielding results. The BR1M (1Malaysia People’s Aid) programme by the government is an affirmation of hard times in the country. Even the price of cili padi has rocketed. And mind you, we are not yet talking about these “pockets of world war” reaching our shores — even though we have been losing oil by the shiploads to pirates and have to put up with million-ringgit ransom demands from terrorist factions. Should we not be more concerned about productivity, reserves and alternative crop cultivation even before the world erupts into a full-fledged war? Should we not be debating and seeking innovative solutions from the grassroots on ways and means to battle the rising cost of goods and services, and shrinking wages and cash disposals? Should our politicians not be canvassing across the country to bring Malaysians together in solidarity to face the uncertain times ahead? Should our government not be announcing stringent measures to tackle the huge number of foreign workers, upon which we seem to be so dependent, in preparation for a full-fledged world war? Knowing too well the situation in the Middle East, should our leaders not slam the brakes on any divisive talk of race and religion? We are not even talking about how to cultivate cash crops and increase food production. We are not even talking about emergency fire and bombing drills to help the population be well prepared for surprises. We are not even talking about medical needs. But at the rate at which the politicians are warring, it appears that Malaysian politicking is all that matters to leaders and blinkered supporters. And, in the face of all their wounded-cat attacks, the complaints, concerns and fears of the rakyat remain buried. We are wasting too much of the national will fighting it out in the courts and arresting people by the hundreds. We are not thinking of a “Ma-laysia for all Malay-sians”. Instead, we are made to believe that the non-Malays are out to grab the country from the Malays. We forget that Merdeka was won by all Malayans — Malays, Chinese, Indians and others — for the love of the land called Malaya. We forget the battles that all Malayans and, later, Malaysians, had fought against the communists. Otherwise, Malaysia today would be a colony of China. We forget that despite the ugly May 13 riots inflicted by politicians, the citizens had stood side-by-side for their land and ruler. Is it, then, not the time to tell politicians, leaders and blinkered supporters that the war is not inside here among us, and to get ready for World War 3 in the best interest of the nation, people and king? Who, then, can now help put the horse before the cart for the ordinary rakyat, who are truly the ultimate champions of the country and king? Or, shall we just carry on with our infamous tutup satu mata stance, while corruption, plundering and warring factions beat the rakyat? J.D. Lovrenciear, Kuala Lumpur nst.my/node/29845
