Name: Paul_______ Message: Heald. You may mock but Global warming is here and you should face up to it. Data from satellites and surface measurements show that January 2011 was globally the warmest in the 32-year satellite record started. Ocean temperatures are increasing and ocean heat content has increased considerably over the upper 700 meters since 1965, as shown by a wide variety of ocean thermometers. It’s ignorant uneducated people like you whose pea sized brains cannot fathom the damage that is being done to the planet. Carnival does not take the environment seriously it seems either. Take your garbage separation program which was not in evidence on our last cruise. Our cabin on the Victory had just one small garbage bin , there should have been three separate ones for plastic, paper and food/waste items. The water pressure in the faucets is unnecessarily strong, this should be reduced and lots of other shortfalls. I have written as such to your President and there has thus far been no response. Global warming is real , accept it and get your customers to separate their garbage to protect the world they reside in. Well , that’s a fascinating blog post I received this week. I am not sure what I said to make Paul so upset at me but let’s not worry about that for now. Carnival is at the forefront of environmental protection, you will never see anyone of the crew throw anything overboard and we ask and encourage our guests not to do the same. We should maybe ask guests to help conserve water, that is good point and maybe turning the tap off while brushing teeth and other water saving suggestions should be promoted to the guests more by the Cruise Directors. As for garbage separation. Well we have an environmental team on every ship who do just that and who separate the garbage according to environmental agency and US Coastguard rules and regulations. We also have an Environmental Officer on every ship and a large environmental team here in Miami who makes sure we are compliant to all the strict rules that come with sailing the Caribbean and beyond. I am not sure we need to have guests separate garbage in the cabins though……………three garbage cans? No, that’s not your job, you’re on vacation, that is down to our crew…………………do you agree? We have come a long way, back when I first started with Carnival in 1987 when the entire cruise industry everything overboard. Food, ice carvings, garbage you name it, it got chucked overboard. And then there is golf…………we all did golf driving off the back of the ship and there must be millions of golf balls on the ocean between Miami and Cozumel and beyond. So is Carnival environmentally friendly Paul ? Yes indeed we are and in many other ways I haven’t written about here. As for me, am I environmentally friendly? Well I have my own personal opinions on global warming and yet when I am on board as a Cruise Director I do all I can to help protect our oceans and seas…………….despite the non-environmentally friendly state of my underpants. Thoughts on this please Cheers.
