Nanaimo has by far the most screwed up town layout on the planet. In fact, Ive been told that if you take an Urban planning course at UBC or one of those places, they use Nanaimo as an example of how NOT to design a town. There are too many things Ive witnessed here as to why this may be BESIDES the fact that the town seems to be built on a hill and all the streets seem to sprout off from the ocean in random directions, or that most of the streets seem to change their name every five blocks. There is no north south east west here. Its just a bunch of random streets that meet at random angles and you have to take some pretty crazy routes to get from point A to Point B. Sometimes ya gotta take a right then a really quick left, or drive for five miles to get to a place thats twenty feet away. No wonder all the streets are called twiggly wiggly or googly gaggly or whatever. Who ever made this town had to have been on some serious WEED!! But I think the pine streets syndrome gives us a good indication of just how much weed they smoked. This short video clip i took today, gives somewhat of an example. But just to be clear I will post a map of the route i walked today to show you what i mean.
