Nathaniel woke up acting fussy this morning and thats - TopicsExpress

Nathaniel woke up acting fussy this morning and thats understandable. He is continuing to try to adjust to being hospitalized. Yesterday, the ophthamologist stopped by and examined Nathaniels eyes and dilated them. He didnt seem to know what to think about that. He tried to reach the lights on the wall as he tried to get used to his eyes being dilated. It was a new experience for him. Nathaniel also had a feeding tube put in. He is still doing okay, overall, with eating, but the medical professionals explained that as he continues with the chemo, his appetite will likely wane and that its best to put it in while he is still strong. This isnt Nathaniels first time he has had a feeding tube, but he doesnt act as if he likes it when hes aware of it. While I had my back turned to wash his bottle yesterday, Nathaniel ripped his feeding tube out and the smile on his face seemed to indicate he felt proud he did. The nurses reinserted Nathaniels feeding tube as he yelled and tried to push them away. Nathaniel is showing that hes not always Mr. Happy and hell use his strength if he feels he must. Overall, though, Nathaniel seems to be doing okay. He has become more clingy, so he is probably at least somewhat scared and uncomfortable with much of what he has been experiencing. Please pray for ongoing strength for Nathaniel. Also, pray that he becomes more cooperative and comfortable with the care he is receiving. His sister, Cecilia, is in need of prayers too as ahe seems to be homesick and misses something closer to her regular routine. We are very grateful for all of the prayers and assistance people have been providing. Weve found peoples kindness to be far beyond our expectations. We really cant express enough gratitude. Thank you all! As Nathaniel is now in this intense stage of treatment, please keep him and his overall wellbeing in your prayers. Pray and believe! Thank you!
