National History Day results are in! Three of our recently graduated 8th graders won national honors at the National History Day finals held this month in College Park, MD. Anthony Mitchell and Jack Horsman received recognition as the Best Junior Division (grades 6-8) Group Website in the state of Massachusetts. Their website was entitled “Conflicting Rights and Responsibilities During the Cuban Missile Crisis.” Daniel Sullivan was a National Finalist (#14) in the Junior Individual Website category for his project on “The 1972 Munich Olympics: The Darkest Day in Olympic History.” Here are the links to see the boys websites: bit.ly/1pFdpuw and bit.ly/1qt5n7i. All Applewild 8th graders created National History Day projects in a variety of categories which were entered in the Central MA District competition in March. 83% of Applewild students qualified for the State Competition held in Stoneham in April. All three of the boys who went to the national competition won recognition. Congratulations to the boys, to Mr. Jones and Mr. Goodwin!
