National Incident Management Systems and Advanced Technologies (NIMSAT) Institute at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette names Clay Rives as Director. Rives served as the Associate Director/Interim Director for the past 2 years and oversees the research, development, and outreach for NIMSAT. Rives has established himself as a state leader in the first responder community with experience in areas of homeland security, emergency management, and criminal justice with specialized expertise in program development, critical infrastructure protection, cyber and information security, computer forensics, criminal investigations, grant management, and homeland security and emergency management training and exercises. He has been instrumental in implementing an accredited emergency management and homeland security training and exercise program through the university. The program delivers National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS) courses and offers planning and exercise services to both the public and private sectors. He also has been heavily involved in the research and development of the National Virtual Business Emergency Operations Center software that provides situational awareness and resource support during emergency incidents supporting community recovery, mitigation and economic stabilization. Rives oversees the physical and virtual operations of the Louisiana Business Emergency Operations Center (LA BEOC) and serves as the Incident Commander during emergency activations.
