Native American`s believe Turquoise worn on the body or used in - TopicsExpress

Native American`s believe Turquoise worn on the body or used in ceremonies signified the god of the sky alive in the earth - I saw this comment today and attempted to educate the poster on the inaccuracy of this comment stating there are at least 566 different tribes in what is now called the USA and hey, they dont all have the same beliefs and maybe name the bands or tribes who have such a belief. The posters response was I was rude and assaulting the poster with my words. Wow. As a privileged white guy who doesnt have to take into account the color of my skin before posting on the internet or interacting in public with dominant society, I get really tired of the subtle or not so subtle racist comments made by other privileged white guys and gals. I am not defending the 566 tribes and however many unrecognized tribes. I am addressing ignorance, entitlement, racist romanticizing of cultures for the privileged white persons benefit and convenience. Yes, I am tired of lazy ignorant stupidity today and I do not ever want to feel so privileged that I do not have to look at my own thinking, beliefs, words and actions to see how I can be a better human on this earth.
