Natma Taung National Park located in Kanpel-let, Mindut and Matupi Townships in Chin State and covering an area of 270 square miles was established in 1994. Accessibility is by plane from Yangon to Bagan-Nyauru Oo and then by car to Chauk and Hsaw and to Kanpel-let or Hsaw to Mindat. The aim of establishing the Park was to conserve the scenic beauty, mountain ecosystem, prohibit illicit hunting, preserve rare species of birds, preserve rare species of Myanmar orchids and to attract tourists. Wildlife found in the area include tiger, bear, wild boar, leopard, guar, gibbon159 bird species are also found. Opportunities for recreation include viewing the natural mountain scenery, the third highest mountain in Myanmar (10018 feet) and hiking. Traditional and cultural heritage of the Chin people and life style can be observed.
