► Nature Is Speaking – Julia Roberts is Mother Nature and she is not happy {bit.ly/1oSqk9x}. Roberts, Harrison Ford, and other A-List celebrities have lent their voices to the Nature is Speaking campaign to speak on behalf of Mother Nature, the soil, redwood forests, water, rainforests, coral reefs and the oceans. And, needless to say, they are all really pissed at humans. This Nature is Speaking campaign is the brainchild of Lee Clow for Conservation International {natureisspeaking.org}. Aside: Lee Clow and Steve Hayden created Apples iconic 1984 commercial. ► However, our 6-yo wasnt as impressed as I had expected. He scrolled through the site, panned across the actors, then asked: How come they dont have any black actors? I was surprised that he quickly picked up on the lack of diversity among the actors. It goes without saying that the entire diversity of Mother Nature’s children needs to be awakened to give her a fighting chance; or maybe give humans a fighting chance. For as they say, repeatedly: NATURE DOESN’T NEED PEOPLE. PEOPLE NEED NATURE. ► I find the videos somewhat open-ended; the calls to action are rather soft. Clow suggests: I just think if you want a lot of people to care about what you care about you need to hit an emotional chord that isn’t based on fear or heavy-handed tactics.... Its one thing for The Ocean to be pissed, and clearly The Ocean knows that humans must stop fishing and polluting, but the voices dont say the obvious. STOP eating animals already!
