Navy arrests three suspected oil thieves, community’s spiritual head WARRI— OPERATIVES of the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS, Delta, have arrested three suspected illegal oil bunkerers and gun runners in oil-rich Ugborodo community, in Warri South-West Local Government Area, along with the community’s spiritual head, for allegedly parading himself as a traditional ruler. The arrest followed a raid, weekend, on the community during which the suspects were picked up and taken to Warri for further investigation. Chairman of Delta State Waterways Committee, DWSC, Chief Ayiri Emami, who spoke to newsmen on the matter, said he had to report to Police, Soldiers and Navy authorities, the criminal acts of the suspects, to stem any breach of the peace in the area. Ayiri said that the suspects and their leaders would be arraigned before the state High Court, noting that though no gun was recovered at the time of arrest, investigation was on-going as it was not proper for him to allow the nefarious activities of the suspects to continue unchecked. He noted that the problem in Ugborodo community was because of the order by the Community Trust Chairman, Chief Thomas Ereyitomi that all illegal bunkering activities be stopped forthwith to protect lives and property of innocent indigenes or the perpetrators would face the wrath of security agencies.
