Nearly 20 years ago, Katie Beets was given less than a 1% chance of survival after being diagnosed with brain cancer. Dr. Michael Handler said he could remove the 8-year-old’s brain tumor, with the caveat that she may never walk or talk. Katie recently visited our hospital, where she reconnected with her hero, Dr. Handler, and other favorite doctors and nurses. A few days later, Katie graduated from college with honors, walked across the stage to receive her diploma, and delivered the keynote address!
