Need some advice here, my dogs are not friendly to other dogs, especially when they are out together, they will bark and if a dog gets too close, the fur will fly. So I walk the dogs alone. Today I was walking the dogs, and while I was bent over picking up the dogs droppings, a person and her dog came around the corner. I stated "My dogs are not friendly, please just wait a second (so I could p/u the dog waste)" She proceeded forward telling me her dog likes other dogs, and moves forward within my dogs personal space, who are fully let out on their retractable leash that does not retract unless the dogs are relaxed. One of my dogs broke out (pulled it right over his ears) of his collar, barking excessively right in the face of the approaching dog, and while nothing happened, it could have gotten very ugly. Why do people think if their dog is friendly, and I tell them mine are not, they are terriers, and VERY territorial, it is okay for them to approach???? I have rope burns on my hands trying to pull my dogs out of her dogs face, and she could plainly see I was bent over picking up dog poop. My heart is still pounding from all the anxiety of that encounter.
