Nerd Music Project (My 10 favourite albums of all time) Album number 9: Miles Davis Sketches of Spain. By far the oldest album on my list (1960), and the only jazz album (although there were several on my long list). Ironically, it was criticized for being not jazzy enough when it came out, because it was a fusion of jazz, european classical, and world music. It is now considered one of the greatest jazz albums in history. The recording is outstanding and the resulting sound is very subtle and beautiful. Im a sucker for bass, and the bass on this album is thrilling. Daviss legendary take on Rodrigos Concerto de Aranjuez is a standout.
