Never Give Up! And always think Lost --- not dumped! Heres the rest of the story............ Siris story in the words of her Reach Rescuer: Since everyone is asking I wanted to share how Siri (really Lady) found her family. As most already heard, we were able to catch Lady Thursday afternoon...much thanks to Bonnie. Bonnie, myself, & Siri loaded her into my car and took her directly to Bonnies home which was less than a mile away. The plan was to take Lady up to Southern Wisc on Friday where she would be entered into a program where they would work with her and get her to the point where she could be adopted and not have that desire to run away. On Friday we realized that Lady was making great strides and we started to question whether to send her to the facility or work with her here. Bonnie & I made the decision to keep her here and co-foster her until she was ready to be adopted. We were questioning ourselves that evening. We wondered if we were doing whats best for Lady or doing what are emotions wanted us to do? We talked throughout the day and decided that we were making the right decision. Meanwhile, Bonnie had put an post on Lost Dogs of ILLINOIS. Late last night Bonnie called me to say that someone had responded to the post. Our immediate reaction was that this person was using the info from the post to get a free pet. However, once we saw the pics that they sent of their dog we were both speechless to see the resemblance. Long story short, Jim (AKA Ladys dad) came to Bonnies home this morning to see the lost dog. CLEARLY Lady belonged to Jim! Jim explained that 6 months ago (on April 1st) their family was moving from Fox Lake to Roselle. Jim was driving their 3 dogs to the new house and stopped over by the baseball fields near Crossroads to let the dogs out for a potty break. Lady got spooked and pulled out of her collar and took off in the park. Jim searched for her for two weeks, called rescues, the police, & animal control trying to find her. Lady has spent the last 6 months waiting for her family to come back for her. Today her dream came true! Jim told us that he would think about her every time there was a storm and would wonder if she was okay. His family kept telling him that another family probably took her in because she is such a loving dog. Jim never gave up hope. When I asked him if he ever thought that he would find her he told me that he had gone to see 3 or 4 dogs from the lost dogs posts and that it never was her. Before Jim came to see Lady this morning Bonnie told me that he seems to be in shock and that he seemed like he didnt think it was going to be her. His first words when he saw Lady come running towards him today were, Oh my God its you, oh my God its you.......Happy Endings do happen people.
