Never seen a picture like this of bison . . . called pte (pee-TAY) in the First Peoples languages I know. Quite a monument to the hubris of the white man. In the year I lived in the Everglades, saw many pictures taken in the 1920s and 30s similar to this except they were mountains of dead birds . . . . . why kill them all ?? To supply all the women in the world with feathers for their hats. Capitalism says where there is profit, nature can go . . . itself. The oral history in the Everglades spoke of seemingly solar eclipses when the flocks birds crossed overhead. Today 90% of the birds and species no longer exist in the Everglades . . . . all for profit. And this Solstice frog asked me: Where is the human race to ??
