#NeverEndingMacSaga volume ... whatever. Stupid damn computer still wont allow me to migrate my old data and/or settings from a networked time machine disk. Turns out that the old HDD has some failures but most of the data is intact. The filesystem seems to have fogotten the names of directories in /Users/hancock, but as long as I know the directory name I can cd /Users/hancock/Desktop/ and everything is fine from there on out. I can now recover my photos and some miscelaneous files from my desktop (onto a loaned Ubuntu laptop not the actual mac). My rage is cooling ... for now.
