New Album ; “Redeemer Of Souls” Judas Priest. British Heavy metal band Judas Priest has finally unleashed theirlatest album “Redeemer of Souls”. This is the seventeenth studio album by the band. Judas Priest’s last album was “Nostradamus” released in June 2008. Still going strong in his 60s, Rob Halford is one of the most legendary vocalists in the metal world. Hard and heavy as they are, “Redeemer of Souls” opens with ‘Dragonout’. The band’s signature tune cuts in through very clean, solid start, but a slower tempo settings when compared to any other Judas Priest album. Richie Faulkner was a perfect replacement to the band after the departure of founding guitarist K.K. Downing in 2011. Faulkner’s riffs fairly trade in with Glenn Tipton throughout the songs. The title track ‘Redeemer of Soul’ weighs in more than the intro. ‘Halls of Vallhala’ is a pure metal track from the album. Halford still proves of what he can do; pulling up his best to maintain his operatic voice in the song. ‘Hell and Back’ is a more or less slower track than the others, quite a unique number since it gradually sets up a rock n roll tone towards the end. Noticing the tempo shifts in every track ‘Metalizer’ breaks away. It’s a heavier, faster distortion; and one might be reminded of the song ‘Leather Rebel’ from the album “Painkiller”. ‘Battle Cry’, ametal tribute to a soldier with bold and strong lyrical content it’s a Painkiller-sequel like song. Storming to the end of the track list, ‘Beginning of the End’ just calms down everything to a softer tune, a decent track one could say. Not pursuing any experiment to the songs like they did to their previous album “Nostradamus”, “Redeemer of Soul” is an album that rejuvenates back the band’s stardom. They made their best effort to maintain the elements of the classic Priest- the speed, heavy distortion and riffs and melodic guitar licks. It almost touches that peak but with time it’s also unfair to recreate those Priest’s hay day. “Redeemer of Souls” is therefore, expected to be another milestone in the band’s journey.
