New Britain Palm Oil Ltd (NBPOL) shareholders owning 58.7% of the shares, including Kulim (Malaysia) Bhd have accepted Sime Darby Bhd’s takeover offer. Sime Darby said on Thursday based on the 58.7% acceptance level, the minimum acceptance condition of its offer of not less than 51% of the voting rights has now been satisfied. The takeover offer period was also extended from Dec 18 to Jan 20, it said. At Kulim’s EGM on Wednesday, the shareholders approved the sale of the 48.97% stake in NBPOL to Sime. The exercise is expected to raise RM2.75bil.
