New Glory Devotional: YOUR FLESH CAN STOP YOU – Friday August 30, 2013 By Pastor Ayodeji Agbelusi Memorise: “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” (Galatians 5:17). Read: Galatians 5: 16-25 One of the greatest enemies of humanity that must be tackled prayerfully and with all seriousness is the flesh. I know you have heard about the cravings and dictates of the flesh. You must not overlook this teaching but pay close attention to this Mr. Flesh as it has the ability to fight you, put you out of grace and make a mess of your journey to stardom. You remember Samson in Judges chapter sixteen, it was nothing but the lust of the eye and the dictates of his flesh that led to the sudden loss of his unique anointing and finally a shameful ending. You need to check this area of your life and make provisions that will not allow you to be grounded abruptly. “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. ” (John 6:63). You need the infilling of the Holy Spirit to live a fulfilled Christian life on the earth. If you are given to satisfying your flesh and its several baseless dictates, you may find it difficult getting God over your most pressing issues and needs. Your assignment on the earth is to concentrate wholly on God and how to fulfil all His will. The only hindrance to satisfying God is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life. These will always work contrary to the agenda of God for your life and if you are the careless type, you may find it difficult to comprehend the times and seasons when the devil has taken you off guard. If he succeeds in deceiving you through lust, you will not only lose the blessings you have been enjoying over time, you will also lose your place in the kingdom just like Samson. What are you running after my brethren? These worldly things that have taken your time and will not allow you to remember your God in the morning or night nor allow you to be in church for services will not fetch you eternity. Why not drop the works of the flesh and go after God. “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16). If you will yield your heart and life to the Spirit of God and abolish the dictates of the flesh, God will not only bless you, He will arise to defend your case everywhere you go. Consider your steps and make amends before it’s too late. Don’t forget brother Samson, he went off guard and was destroyed with the sinners in the land. Pray with me: Father, give me the grace to identify and avoid the lustful dictates of the flesh and the ability to follow after the things of the spirit by dwelling on your Word daily.
