New Kindle Unlimited plan will hurt authors, in my opinion. The - TopicsExpress

New Kindle Unlimited plan will hurt authors, in my opinion. The new all-the-Kindle-books-you-can-download plan for $9.99/month will hurt authors because authors will NOT get paid unless the reader reads at least 10% of the book. And with thousands of books to download for their subscription, how will readers get time to choose MY books? So far, this only affects Kindle Select titles. Luckily, I only have two of those left. By the end of October, I will be done with my enrollments in Kindle Select. My Kindle books will be available for the regular prices and not for the all-you-can-download monthly fee plan. *sigh* I hope I dont lose readers, but it seems so unfair to just arbitrarily change the way certain marketing programs work for authors. Although I am an Amazon Prime member and I enjoy all the perks of that, I knew what I was signing up for at the beginning and so did the movie and TV providers who opted in to Prime. Im at least thankful to be able to opt out of Kindle Select so my book wont be free to everyone and hardly pay me any royalties because of the mandatory 10% read stipulation before I get paid. Readers, be honest, if you have tons of free books on your Kindle, how likely are you to read the free books as opposed to ones you have paid for? Kindle authors, what do you think of Kindle Unlimited getting added on to Kindle Select?
