New Oklahoma Voter Registration Stats Released by State Election Board (Oklahoma City) – The State Election Board’s official annual voter registration statistics were released today by Oklahoma State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax. Ziriax announced that as of January 15, 2014, Oklahoma has 1,978,812 registered voters. This includes 885,609 Democrats, 854,329 Republicans, 238,870 Independents, and four Americans Elect. The State Election Board Secretary provided the following historical comparisons between today’s Oklahoma voter registration statistics with those in years past: Total Registered Voters Democrats % Republicans % Independents % Other % 2014 1,978,812 885,609 44.8 854,329 43.2 238,870 12.0 4* --- 2012 2,000,610 943,283 47.2 828,257 41.4 229,070 11.4 NA NA 2004 1,938,377 1,022,442 52.8 720,121 37.1 195,334 10.1 480** .02 1994 1,966,273 1,250,247 63.6 657,267 33.4 58,759 3.0 NA NA *2014 Other means Americans Elect. **2004 Other total includes Libertarians and Reform. Note: Americans Elect qualified for recognition as a political party in 2012, but did not qualify for continued recognition because it failed to nominate presidential electors for the 2012 General Election. However, Americans Elect continues to exist as a “political organization” under Oklahoma law, and voters may register as Americans Elect. The report of official voter registration by county as of January 15 is available on the State Election Board website: ok.gov/elections/documents/reg_0114.pdf To view historical voter registration figures, visit this page on the State Election Board website: ok.gov/elections/Voter_Registration/Voter_Registration_Reports/index.html For more information about elections in Oklahoma, visit the State Election Board’s website at elections.ok.gov.
