New Orleans is the #1 brain power American city: So, Forbes is working effortlessly to maintain its placement of New Orleans in 1st place for all their list, no matter the topic/ theme. In their latest installation Forbes ranks New Orleans #1 in cities with brain power, aka most educated populace. Seriously? New Orleans has the highest incarceration rates, top murderous cities in America, segregated public/charter schools, and an outrageous homeless rate. More so, as a scholar Ive often wondered where do they get their data and how do the select their subjects. Well, although I dont know those answers I did make some observations as I drove around the city today bringing my kids to/ from their weekend activities. The following pictures made me wonder: Are any of these people included in Forbes analysis? Were any of these people interviewed? How do we classify their brain power, and how does it benefit the new New Orleans? During this Lent season, consider taking a break from propagandist popular media insinuations and let your everyday realities guide your list. These new journalist are apparently the same newcomers and gentrifiers that have angered many locals. In a recent interview (Ill post it below) a young lady says I feel like Im getting in on the bottom floor and great things happening. In my Spike Lee voice, Aint nothing new to be discovered here; Aint no room for no Christopher Columbus syndrome. It truly disgust me that OUR realities are being rewritten with creative literary prose intended to make this city some Cinderella story, when in actuality where a big ghetto with plenty of music and festivals to keep US occupied from reality—the city is broke and weve sold the soul of the city for tourist dollars to keep us afloat.
