New Position Mechanical Engineer.. Our client is dedicated to fulfilling their social mission to create places where people want to live and maintaining our financial strength. They manage over 68,000 homes across the capital and the south east, regenerate communities throughout the region, and are set to become London’s largest developer of new homes. They are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their team; originally on a short term basis however may result in a permanent position. This is an exciting new job within the Maintenance Services Team, which is part of the Technical Services Department, where you will be responsible for managing the delivery of the mechanical and electrical (M&E) servicing and refurbishment contracts through external contractors and advising on the requirements for new build projects, with a bias towards electrical installations, to ensure full compliance with M&E legislative and regulatory compliance across the housing stock. Ideally you would need: • Full driving licence and have access to a vehicle on a daily basis as this role requires the post holder to be mobile (travelling to various sites). • Electrical Engineering qualifications (Technical not manual) i.e. HNC Electrical Engineering • Electrical building services experience with residential experience • Management of staff experience • Maintenance contract management experience with an understanding of KPIs and • Contractor management It is essential that you are a first class communicator with experience of working with a variety of different stakeholders. You will be able to liaise effectively with contractors, residents, solicitors, and our own technical and administrative staff. You will need practical experience of managing specialist mechanical and electrical installations and have a detailed understanding of best practice in the delivery of such contracts. You will need to be computer literate and be able input and retrieve data from computer management systems. You will possess a relevant technical qualification to a minimum of HNC level. This role includes • Working closely with the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Manager and your team of engineers and administrator(s). You will make a real difference developing an effective, efficient and responsive management process to support L&Q’s corporate objective of achieving Operational Excellence. • You will have expert knowledge in the servicing, repair and replacement of building services but principally electrical installations. You will be required to manage the contracts of the external contractors who are engaged to carry out the various electrical contracts e.g. domestic and commercial electrical installations, fire alarms, door entry systems etc. You will monitor the progress of these contracts; identify issues and action remedial measures to ensure high level contract compliance and resident satisfaction. You will also need to demonstrate an understanding of performance management to ensure that quality and value for money is achieved at all times. • The postholder may represent the Maintenance Services team, at various key stage meetings, with a view to ensuring that M&E services are fully considered in the design and construction of the new developments. • Applicants should be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of design and energy use requirements regarding Part L of British Standards and Code of Sustainable Homes.
