New Univeristy of Ghana Registrar Sworn In Mrs. Mercy Haizel-Ashia has been sworn-in as Registrar of the University with effect from 1st August, 2013. The Chairman of the University Council, His Lordship Justice Dr. S. K. Date-Bah, acting on behalf of the Chancellor, performed the swearing-in accordance with the requirements of the University Statutes. Mrs. Haizel-Ashia, the former Director of Human Resource and Organisational Development of the University of Ghana, thus becomes the first female Registrar of the University of Ghana, taking over from Mr. Joseph Maafo Budu who has proceeded on statutory retirement. The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey, paid tribute to Mr. Budu after he symbolically handed-over to Mrs. Haizel-Ashia. He said the University has benefitted a lot from him and learnt from his virtues which include his patience. Prof. Aryeetey added that the University appreciates all that Mr. Budu achieved and hoped he would continue to share his experiences with the University after retirement.
