New Vacancy Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group has a vacancy for Head of Structural Design. The successful candidate will report directly to the Marshall Aerospace Deputy Chief Designer and will be functionally responsible for a large team of structural design engineers at all levels. Candidates should be degree qualified or equivalent with proven experience in the Aerospace Structural Design sector along with significant experience of being familiar with both Civil and Military Regulatory requirements. Responsibilities:- • To provide appropriate structural design resource to Chief Engineers responsible for delivery of contracted projects • To ensure that all structural design is of the highest quality and standard, is fit for purpose, cost and meets both customer and appropriate regulatory requirements • To ensure latest relevant design techniques, methodologies and technology is used • To ensure communication of design in the most effective way to manufacturing, production and external customers • To establish training requirements and ensure design engineers maintain a ‘broad’ knowledge and experience base. • To support internal and external Design Reviews • To carry out recruitment interviews • To support solving technical issues within the project teams • To support Apprentice and Graduate training programmes • To carry out monthly company team briefs • To support Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives • To carry out annual Personal Development Reviews (PDR’s) • To be capable of holding a Design Approval Signatory Knowledge in basic stress analysis is essential in order to ‘challenge/discuss’ project team designs when attending formal or informal design reviews. Good communication skills are key to the role in order to support internal cross functional meetings as well as liaison with both internal and external customers along with proven leadership and management skills.
