“New phenomenon in the Philippines” (Jan. 26) Last updated: Saturday, February 01, 2014 12:26 AM Hire a Filipino and he will solve the problem, or so they say. Offering jobs to foreigners in the Philippines seems like a good sign to me. More Filipinos will come home to work once it happens. That will be the greatest thing to happen; the Philippines will be great again. James Millan All skilled workers in the Philippines undergo rigid quality training in school as well as after they finish their studies. Some skilled workers even undergo hands-on training without any salary or allowance, and sometimes they even pay for the sake of gaining better experience. There is a brain drain not because Filipinos do not like to work and be of service to their country and countrymen, but because the current state of the Philippines economy does not provide them with economic opportunities. If only the system of governance allowed for the proper use of public funds, probably not many Filipinos skilled or unskilled would go overseas.
