Newcomer Blackwater Sports jumped onto the trading floor for the first time and emerged with a couple of talents who will beef up its frontcourt when PBA Season 40 opens in five weeks. The Commissioner’s Office approved Friday afternoon the three-team trade involving newcomers and former PBA D-League archrivals Blackwater Sports and NLEX Road Warriors and the Meralco Bolts. In the deal, NLEX first shipped gungho forward Sean Anthony to Blackwater for rookie sscoring machine Juneric Baloria and the Elite’s second round draft picks in 2016 and 2017. The Dioceldo Sy-owend franchise then traded Anthony to Meralco for veteran Sunday Salvacion and big man Jason Ballesteros. Salvacion’s and Ballesteros’s arrival answered Blackwater’s need for a veteran go-to guy and a big man, especially after Danny Ildefonso refused to sign the team’s contract offer. Baloria and the two second round picks will ensure NLEX’s bid to put premium on maintaining a team ready to build in the future, while Meralco was able to add depth to its wings. (SBadua) Admin Drey
