Newly-formed parents group Next Step Horfield Are today moving - TopicsExpress

Newly-formed parents group Next Step Horfield Are today moving forward with their own plan as they too acknowledge the short fall of school places in BS7, BS9 & BS10. We urge our parents to realise we are not alone and parents in North Bristol are aware of the short fall of places So today we ask for your comments 1. Do you require A local senior school for your children in BS7, BS9 & BS10. 2. There are plans to convert part of the existing St Ursulas School into flats. Do you agree or should they remain for education and forward a plan for a senior school 2015 on the 9 acre site. 3. With more houses being built within our area with the prospect of new jobs estimated to be 10,000 in Southmead Hospital alone and migration into Bristol is increasing. Do you feel that you have the choice of local schools for your children. Both at primary and senior once population increases. 4. Are you happy to travel to find a school for your child, as its estimated that more than 500 children do so already from Bristol North who are educated in South Gloucestershire or North Somerset schools or will you go private, as the only alternative option. We believe this is our last opportunity in BS7, BS9 & BS10 to open a local senior school. Once part of the St Ursulas site is converted into flats there will be no other site available. School places in South Gloucestershire and in North Somerset will be reduced for Bristol Children. S.G. and N.S. are expanding in population and increasing their plans on building new houses, this will increase their demand for school places and therefore places will be allocated for their local children. As for fee paying schools they will not be able to accept all the remaining children as this would not be possible. Your choice your children their educational future is either a senior school on the St Ursulas 9acre site or flats bristolpost.co.uk/Dissatisfied-parents-say-new-free-school-needed/story-20817916-detail/story.html
