News • Fredericksburg City Council held the first of two readings Monday on proposed changes to the city’s watering restrictions, which would overhaul the amount of time residents would be allowed to water their yards during most stages. The council did not vote on the changes and will likely make a decision at their April 7 regular meeting. The council also approved a contract to allow the Fredericksburg Independent School District to purchase treated effluent water on their football practice fields. • Fredericksburg Independent School District Board of Trustees discussed future bond scenarios at their regular meeting on Monday night. Trustees received an update from Linda Hicks on Texas House Bill 5 and how it would apply to the graduation requirements for next year’s freshmen. The board also cancelled the May 10 FISD election since only three candidates filed to run for the three available positions. • Hill Country CattleWomen are meeting today at Nacho’s Restaurant in Mason. A social will be held at 10 a.m. followed by the meeting at 10:30 a.m., the guest speaker and lunch. Don Pullum will be speaking about the wine industry in Mason, and also his appearance on the ABC television show “The Taste.” • Auditions begin tonight and continue on Wednesday night for the Fredericksburg Theater Companys next production, “The Fantasticks.” Auditions begin at 7 p.m. both nights at the Steve W. Shepherd Theater. This production is being directed by Jeryl Hoover, and all roles are available. Performances will take place in August. • Cave Creek School Community Center will meet at the school at 7 p.m. tonight. Guests are invited and new members are welcome. Events and projects for 2014 will be discussed and planned at this meeting. Sports • Fredericksburg High School varsity boys and girls soccer teams will play their last games of the season tonight when they travel to Medina Valley for non-district match-ups. The girls will play at 5 p.m. and the boys at 6:30 p.m. • FHS varsity baseball team will travel to Wimberley tonight for a 7 p.m. game. • The FHS softball teams will be traveling to Canyon Lake tonight for a 5 p.m. JV game and a 7 p.m. varsity game. • FHS varsity girls golf team has a 9 a.m. tee time this morning in the Bandera Invitational at the Flying L Golf Club. • Harper High School baseball teams will be in Junction tonight where the JV will play at 5 p.m. and the varsity at 7 p.m. • Harper softball teams will be hosting Center Point tonight in Harper.
