All proceeds support next year’s garden program. Please see attached flier or below for details. When: Friday October 10th 11am-3pm Where: Parking lot of Kaloa buildings Address: 1689 C St. Anchorage 99501 Available Produce: Potatoes (Yukon Golds, Nordonna (reds), and Purple Viking) Price: $2/lb, Cash or check only please Project Information: For those of you who have not heard of our project, for the last three years, the TTCD has worked with the Native Village of Tyonek (NVT) to develop an agricultural program aimed at enhancing food security and providing fresh organic vegetables in their off-the-road-system community in rural Alaska. The project has grown into a 1.5 acre operation with two NRCS high tunnels (48ftx22ft), solar powered irrigation and ventilation systems, 15 raised beds, 1,000 feet of potatoes, 45 rhubarb plants, rows of raspberries, and plans for expansion in the coming years. In addition to providing produce in Tyonek, this program is focused on youth. Nearly every plant in this garden was started and harvested by Tyonek youth in the Tebughna school. It provides annual educational opportunities both in and out of school and provides summer employment in the small community. Your support of this program will help keep these opportunities available to the young people of Tyonek. We would appreciate your help in spreading the word! Thank you and we hope to see you soon! For any questions, please feel free to call (907) 646-3110 or visit our website at ttcd.org. Sincerely, Nicole Swenson Conservation Project Manager Tyonek Tribal Conservation District
