Newspapers report that Ananthamurthy had given specific instructions to his family that his last rites be performed according to vaidika dharma. All his progressive and secular friends blinked their eyes in awe as his son and a 14-member team of priests performed elaborate vedic rituals. It has come to light that he voluntarily performed his sons Upanayana decades ago. Many talk about how he went on a secret mission to Gaya after his mother passed away, to perform rites. For a man who fought the vaidika dharma tooth and nail all his life, these are incredible scenes. If the man had a late realization or he bashed vaidika dharma for a living, only God knows! People call it the height of hypocrisy, but lets be fair to the man. We all are wired for Sanatana Dharma and its pull is too strong to escape from.
