Next discussion: what to do? 10 year ago (yes, we are really getting old!) we had a family picnic at the sports park on Friday. On Saturday, we went golfing, and then had dinner and dancing at the Log Cabin. For this time, people mentioned that a river tubing, kayaking, canoeing trip would be fun. Thoughts included the AuTrain (too far away), Ford River (maybe too low) and Cedar River. This turned in to, why don’t we do a weekend camping event at Wells State Park? We could have a family picnic/potluck on Friday night. On Saturday, we could do the river trip, and then Saturday night we could reserve the picnic shelter, and have catered BBQ or something similar, have some music and the class videos playing there. There are ‘rustic’ cabins for people coming from out of town without camping gear, like me. There’s also a more expensive house for rent, that could be shared between a few families. Campsites can be reserved 6 months ahead of time, so we could try to reserve a block or everyone could go on the website below and reserve their own. This was just an idea we came up with that might be more casual, fun and give more time to catch up than the traditional night out at a restaurant with dinner and dancing. No one would be expected to look good, since we’d all be camping! People could choose to camp or stay in town somewhere and just come out for Saturday day or night. Please give some feedback on this idea….
