Nice work on Thursday afternoon by Officer Jason Linkletter and K9 partner Lex. Linkletter spotted a traffic violation and stopped a carload of folks at Cumberland and Center. On a side note, it was a lovely afternoon for a drive, dont you think? Lex always likes to get out, stretch his legs and take a sniff around (he is a dog after all). Lex indicated to Officer Linkletter that something was amiss. He was right. Due to Lexs outstanding ability to locate both biscuits and heroin (they had no biscuits) a search was done and Linkletter discovered that a cigarette package inside the car contained the heroin depicted in the photos. 7 grams were recovered with a street value of between $150 to $300 per gram. The driver, 29 year old Sara Monroe, was arrested for felony possession of heroin. Other charges are pending for occupants of the car. Linkletter and Lex were assisted by officer Ryan Jones and Sgt. Wade Betters. With Lynyrd Skynyrd warming up on the waterfront, word is that Lex put in a request for the acoustic version of That Smell and got a biscuit and a ear scratch. Isnt that what we all want? Less heroin on the street and a nice weekend ahead! We will be here.
