Nick Borelli - Latin teacher extraordinaire....If any boys left his classroom before a girl he would chase them down and return them to his room. He would ask questions regarding Latin to the gals while standing next to a boy. If the girl got the question wrong he would punch (lightly) the boy in the side. When the boy exclaimed why (the punch) he would say well, I cant hit a girl, can I? He was the king of ditto paper. He had a class ditto for us every day. He would let us swap papers and correct them. Then he would do a roll call to ask for the grade on the paper just corrected. Every time a boy would respond with a high grade he would say sure, cheater, how is that possible? - fun statements like that. If a girl proclaimed a high mark he would coo with excitement and say fabulous things. He loved Gina Lollabrigida and Brigette Bardot. His dentures would fall out now and then. He always asked someone for a stick of gum. He had a picture of JFK on the wall. He was our Village Mayor. He was a scholar and a gentleman. He was Nick Borrelli - NB, he would say Nota Bene, an Italian and Latin phrase for note well.
