Nicole Goodwin is the recipient of CCNY The City College of New Yorks The Riggs Gold Medal Essay Award. She has performed in the Symphony Space production of Listen to Your Mother, the V-Day Poetry Benefit Concert, the Defenders of Love Benefit, and has served as a panelist for the 2009 National Black Writers Conference & Biannual Symposium. A fellow of the North Institute and Retreat for Writers of Color, she is the former editor of the Escriba/Write, winner of the 2006 CCHA Eastern Region Small Journal Award. Her writings have appeared in We Got Issues: A Young Womans Guide to a Bold Underwired Magazine, the Voices of Israel Anthology, and City Colleges Global City Review. Nicole Goodwin devotes so much of her time and talent to champion causes and fostering the growth of other artists, and yet, Ms. Goodwin herself is a single (and wonderful) mom. She needs to cover travel expenses to appear at the Empowering Women of Color Conference at the University of California at Berkeley.
