Niecee Bee Lubas Says I have a question for everyone with non verbal autistic children , have you gone to ears, nose and throat specialists? I thought my son was Def for the first 3 years and it turned out he couldnt hear because he had major ear wax building up and ear infections from birth.the first year of his life the ped doc would say oh hes gotta Lotta wax in there no big deal so finally I went to the ent and he got ear tubes Put in , the next day when I took him outta the crib there was blood all over his pillow and coming out his ears along with puss, after a month of using ear drops the doc says, Ok we need to take them out they might be infected, to make a long story short, right after his3rd surgery the doc came outta the operating room and said mam Ive never seen anything like this the wax I pulled out was the size of a Cigarette butt , theres something really wrong with him , he told me to go to an immunolgist to have him tested , I did and at age 2 he was diagnosed with Hypogamgobulinenima, primary immune dificency, he started getting monthly infusions and his ears got better he didnt say words til 3 yrs old, but he couldnt hear, he is 5yrs old now but very behind, but he can talk and I am grateful I pushed the issue at such a young age , because if I didnt my son would not be able to speak , he has come along way the past 2 years and I thank God for that , so if you havent seen an ears nose and throat doc that would be my suggestion because Alota kids with autism also have immune deficiencies that go Undiagnosed.
