No Social & Economic Revolution = No Clean Renewable Energy. In postings all over the social media, people are hearing that the myths on Renewable Energy are being broken by small countries such as Uruguay & Nicaragua. And if they can do it, why not Australia. Australia Canada and the USA have the biggest climate change denial movements, and they are ideologically and politically based and largely immovable to reason and change...why and how do we change it ???? Its really quite simple in cause and effect, but a lot more complex in the hidden connections of entangled vested interests. in a 3rd year Social Science unit, Abnormal Psychology, you learn that when dealing with inexplicable & majorly dysfunctional behaviour in an individual, always ask Who Benefits? and How? If you look at the economics of Renewable Energy versus big power as in big Hydro, Coal, Natural Gas and Nuclear, all need big corporations, big funds, big staff, overpaid and obscenely wealthy Corporate Executives and Boards. Big Energy also needs big loans, big banks, big insurance companies, big engineering toys, big stock market floats, big politicians to open them, a big Police State to guard them, ASIO to infiltrate the opposition groups, fences and security systems,.... big distribution networks with big towers and big substations, and big earthmoving and tree clearing..... At every level of big, someone is taking a drink as the world of corporate finance sharks talk about it. So Dirty Big Energy is a system by the big, for the big at the expense of everyone - society and environment. So to mix my metaphors, when paying your rising power bills, keep in mind that you are subsidising all the freeloaders and obscenely wealthy parasites with their snouts in the trough, getting a free lunch, taking a free drink at your expense... !!!! And the changes needed are blocked and denied by an ideologically and economically connected political belief system. What do you need for rooftop solar... a fast-track discount Development Application, and a couple of people a couple of days to install, and the money comes back to the householder... For community windfarms, and micro hydro or bioenergy recovery the same. So who loses with decentralised community-owned power, the powerful and wealthy..... who gains - the people. You cant separate technologies and ideas from whether they concentrate wealth, advantage and resources, or distribute and share them equitably. Want clean power and a viable biosphere, you wont get it without a social, economic and political revolution. So Up the Revolution ! (photo Lake George Windfarm at Sunset)
