No man can serve two masters, for he will either hate one and love - TopicsExpress

No man can serve two masters, for he will either hate one and love the other or hold to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth. (Matthew 6:24) Living by the gospel isn’t about finding satisfaction in fulfilling your hopes and dreams; it’s about pleasing God. You can’t do that except by fulfilling His purposes for your life (see Hebrews 11:6). If you are truly seeking God’s will, then you aren’t on your way to fulfilling your dreams, but His desires. Indeed, there is a difference! We need to exercise caution in distinguishing our dreams from God’s will. We may think we have a grip on what we are suppose to do with our lives, but all of that could change in a moment, when God opens our eyes to His plans for us. We may think we are working for God, but our motives could be self-centered. It could be that we might be pursuing a path for which we are not equipped. God may have gifted us in another area that we are neglecting, because we might feel that it is not as weighty as the dream we are seeking to fulfill. We must always be ready to make changes where the Spirit leads. We must never let pride get in the way of this work. Pride will only keep us from serving God in the capacity that He desires. It will keep us from living a fulfilling life in Christ. Remember, the Christian life isn’t about prospering in the world, but about preparing our hearts for Heaven. It’s about following Jesus’ example of living in complete submission to the Father’s will (see 1 John 2:6).
