No offend to my brothers and sisters overtaken by the Facebook - TopicsExpress

No offend to my brothers and sisters overtaken by the Facebook sensation of challenge taking! I am appal by the cultural challenge where you have to sing or narrate a forklore in your tribal language. I find it a bit cynical that this challenge is happening in a time when our tribal identity is the very cause of our problems back home in South Sudan. My take on this challenge is that, South Sudanese young people who grew up in the west are affirming their loyalty to their tribes through this acts because their elders are daring them to prove who they are to the world at this difficult time in our country history. By this we are dragging them into the same shenanigan ripping our country apart. I dont have any issue with people proving who are they but I find the timing very wrong. I would rather be challenge to sing the South Sudanese National Anthem as its the only unifying factor we badly need right now than telling the world that I am a Nuer, Dinka, Acholi, Toposa, Balanda, Shilluk, Zandi, Bari etc. I already know who you are, why sing a song in your tribal language to further prove who you are, unless you are a musician, thats different. Again this is my take and no challenge to any particular individual or tribe. #Hoping for peace#.
