No plans for this weekend? Come watch The Ghost Train by Arnold Ridley for just £7 pp. Our first night was Wednesday and here is one of the reviews we received: The Ghost Train This was a joint production between St. Mathews Theatrical Society and Phoenix Players, which worked extremely well allowing them to select an excellent cast using the top players from each society. All the action takes place in a cold bleak station waiting room in Cornwall. There is a business man Richard Winthrop (Martin Lawlor) and his wife Elsie (Karen Riding) who are about to separate, but decide they really do need each other after a very frightening night in the eerie waiting room. A newly married couple Charles Murdock (Adam Probets) (who stepped in at the last minute when the original Charles had to drop out) gave an outstanding performance. Chris Avery was particularly effective as the silly chappie Teddie Deaken, who turned to the chief of police! All the cast gave strong performances and good interpretations of their roles, making an excellent all round production. A good set, with frightening sound effects and lots of atmospheric smoke, all added to the overall picture. Well done. Jacqui Hartley NODA Rep. District 10
