No11 in the 12 days of Christmas songs Christmas Countdown is Jewel with her brilliant rendition of my favourite Christmas Carol Oh Holy Night. I have heard this Carol done a million ways and most people murder it but this is so beautiful. The actual very best rendition I ever heard was around 18 years ago. Shirl and I were in York and we went into the York Minster Cathedral, (in those days you didnt have to pay and could take photos and all the normal things in life). We sat on a pew half way down and the choir was setting up to practice for that years Christmas Concert. The choirboys were there and they had a full setup with the candles and soft lighting. Shirt and I were the only ones in there and then they started. The sound sent shivers up and down my spine and melted my brain it was that good. They sang heaps of Carols and Oh Holy Night started. I dont know why I didnt physically melt to the floor. It was aural exctasy. It was a superb winter afternoon and they sang their hearts out just for us. Anyways i heard Jewels version later on and loved it. We play it every Christmas. Sing along then: On the Eleventh day of Christmas my music gave to me.
