Nominee #2 Carrie M. from Georgia Ahimsa House Nomination Entry: Ahimsa House is a non-profit dedicated to helping the human AND animal victims of domestic violence. We have amazing volunteer that is truly making a difference to these victims. Carries involvement with Ahimsa House is four-fold: fundraising, outreach, crisis management and leadership. In 2013 she was solely responsible for some of the largest fundraisers at Ahimsa House, The Dirty Dog and The Giving Tree. By establishing strong, local partnerships with a pet-related businesses, Carrie was able to secure much needed funds during the holiday season for the pet victims of domestic violence. Carrie is also involved in community outreach events each month. These events educate the public on the issue of domestic violence and the need to protect the pets of these victims. She has also made a commitment to help manage our 24-7 hotline for victims. We not only offer the pets of these victims a safe place, but we offer the victim resources such as housing, legal help, counseling, etc. Most recently, Carrie was accepted as the President of the Board for Ahimsa House. Carries creative ideas and passion are taking our team to new levels of leadership in our community. This organization is responsible for helping upwards of 500 people and their pets each year and I know she is a big part of that. Her hard work allows domestic violence victims and their pets to be reunited and begin a new life together.
