The device is not the answer. The child still needs speech therapy to recognize sounds and to filter out other sounds. What happens when the child grows and it needed to be refitted and insurance wont pay? What happens when the child wants to communicate in the pool but cant get the device wet? What happens when the child disconnects the device during sleep, they are still deaf? What is worse is in the process of the implantation the cilia (hair follicles on the cochlea to do the hearing) are destroyed. Let the child grow up, learn asl with your child, When the child is able to make a decision for himself about his/her body let them choose that for him/her self! Look at the whole child not just the ears! Stop Cochlear implants now! Embrace bilingual American Sign language!
